Step up and Succeed

The Step Up and Succeed Resource Hub is available to support employers in the skilled trades, their trainers, and their apprentices with a one-stop-shop of existing FREE and low cost resources. Employment Services has access to this Hub, and job developers can share it with the employers they support.

Ontario’s Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program supports skill building for prospective and signed apprentices and provides resources for employers who hire in the trades. Literacy Link South Central has developed the Step Up and Succeed Resource Hub to support employers in the skilled trades, their trainers, and their apprentices.

Employment Services has access to this Hub, and job developers can share it with the employers they support. The Hub is a one-stop-shop of existing FREE and low cost supports for employers. It holds over 20 new resources developed with the needs of small-to-medium sized employers in mind. These tools help support employers with their attraction, retention and workforce upskilling needs. This year, more tools and resources are being created based on feedback from employers and partners across the skilled trades community.

The Hub also helps employers connect apprentices to free skills upgrading through Ontario’s Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) programs. To learn more about how LBS can support your clients, visit the section on the hub called “Skills Development for your Apprentice”

This resource was developed by Literacy Link South Central and made available throughout the province. LOCS along with other literacy programs in Ontario participated as a member of the advisory committee.
