Adult training organizations help adults reach their education and work goals. We make sure that everyone eligible for our free skills training has access. The role of Literacy Ontario Central South (LOCS) is to support adult training organizations. LOCS ensures the programs in our region have the resources they need to help their participants reach their goals.
We believe that it’s never too late to try something new!
People in our programs gain the skills they need to meet their own individual goals. Some people have a goal of finding a job or advancing in their current position. Some are preparing for further education or an apprenticeship. Our programs are flexible and customized to the goals of each person registered for training.
People in our training programs:
- Prepare to complete their high school diploma or write the GED.
- Complete upgrading before entering a college program.
- Gain skills in reading, writing and math.
- Develop key skills needed to find or advance at work, in an apprenticeship or in the skilled trades.
- Complete programs such as customer service, Point-of-Sale, pre-PSW, computer skills and money management
- Gain skills such as communication, teamwork, organization and problem solving.

The LOCS Region
There are five counties in the LOCS region and there are eight adult training organizations in 18 different locations throughout the region. This means that there are many options to choose from.
